Employee morale and wellness are concerns of most businesses today, and Allstate Insurance Company is one of those businesses. According to Marketwatch.com, Allstate Insurance Company and GlobalFit, a top provider of healthy living strategies, reported the implementation of a corporate wellness program, Destination: You.

The new program, designed by GlobalFit, is geared to motivate and monitor the physical activity of Allstate’s 10,000 plus nationwide workforce. Initiating this program puts Allstate among the industries leaders who are vigorously working to introduce and increase steps on a daily basis to improve employee health and well-being. The Destination: You program is an addition to Allstate’s existing wellness initiative.

Allstate, celebrating 80 years in the business, “is the nation’s largest publicly held personal lines insurer.” The company is well-known for its slogan: “You’re In Good Hands With Allstate(R),” and boasts of providing insurance (home, life, auto, and retirement) to nearly 16 million U.S. households.

The director of benefits at Allstate Ned Kyle explained, “Allstate wants to help our employees get the most out of life, and that includes encouraging healthy habits.” He added that Destination: You provides support to their already existing wellness program through tools and education that will aid workers to step-lively on a daily basis.

The new program has been received on a positive note; almost 33 percent of Allstate’s employees are already participating.

Participant results is what the web-based program is targeted at. Its design has the functionality to monitor progress and provide accessible information, such as: education, activity objective incentive options, and workplace motivation.

GlobalFit’s CEO Frank Napolitano added his views on the benefits of creating a healthy workforce, “Adopting initiatives that help build practical, healthy lifestyles allows companies, such as Allstate, to positively impact employee wellness, corporate culture and healthcare expenses.” This physical activity strategy is a major step for Allstate, and Napolitano noted that “we are proud to have had our Destination: You technology selected as a great way to help employees meet their health goals.”

Details of the program include actually tracking the number of steps employees take on a daily basis, calories burned per activity, and distance walking. The incentives focus on walking objectives for two primary reasons: (1) it’s a convenient form of exercise, (2) research demonstrates that it is beneficial for a number of widespread health problems.

Innovative employee health and wellness strategies are being designed to help companies create a healthier workforce. One such corporate wellness program was recently launched by Todd Elliot. His new Bod by Todd program combines nutrition and exercise in a boot-camp layout.
