The customer reward program for Hilton Worldwide’s 10 distinct brands was the topic as a recently unveiled study covered the top 10 happiest winter travel destinations in the United States today.
Dr. Aymee Coget, a happiness expert, found that traveling during the winter months can provide benefits including increased personal happiness that can combat the seasonal affective disorder and cold weather blues that affect so many Americans every year.
“Research shows that the anticipation and savoring that comes from an upcoming vacation often increases a person’s level of happiness,” said Coget, who is also the CEO of the American Happiness Association. “In fact, spending money on other people and experiences, versus material objects, boosts personal contentment – and travel is a great time to do that.”
The Hilton HHonors program is offering its More Points promotion that functions to reward members who travel through March 31 with added bonus points. The Hilton Honors Happiest Winter Travel Destinations in the United States featured Tucson, Arizona, at the top spot, with 286 annual days of sun and 39 golf courses, as well as above-average temperatures year-round.
St. Petersburg, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; Napa-Sonoma, California; and Seattle rounded out the top five. Despite being known for its bountiful rainfall throughout the year, Seattle also offers the highest concentration of coffee shops in the United States as well as 26 museums and some of the best music and food in the nation.
“Every day, our employees come to work at our more than 3,800 hotels in 88 countries with the No. 1 goal of making our guests happy,” said Jeff Diskin, senior vice president of global customer marketing at Hilton Worldwide. “During these dreary winter months, we hope to ensure happiness comes even easier with our More Points promotion, allowing travelers to earn more HHonors points with each stay.”
Rounding out the top 10 were Los Angeles; Palm Springs, California; Washington, D.C.; Las Vegas; and Houston.
Meanwhile, a mainstay in the loyalty program industry, the 5th Loyalty Summit 2012 featured Payback India as a main sponsor. Payback reminded companies about the effectiveness of customer loyalty initiatives as well as the importance of taking their program seriously.
