Walgreens, the nation’s largest drugstore chain, recently established an alliance through its subsidiary Take Care Health Systems with Core Performance, according to a release in Marketwatch.com. This union has been established to provide business leaders access to superior wellness programs, including nutrition and fitness.
Take Care Health Systems is considered the largest manager of workplace health facilities, and its onsite care centers are all-inclusive. It boasts of over 700 centers across the nation.
Leading in the employer pharmacy and workplace wellness centers arena, Take Care Health Systems provides a boosted incentive program to employers that jump on board. The incentives include a 10 to 30 percent savings in healthcare expenses. It also intends to design state-of-the-art facilities that will help lower costs related to healthcare services. Creating this type of work environment will help enhance employee well-being, which in turn will enhance workplace productivity.
Athletes’ Performance is the developer of the platform Core Performance utilizes. The platform supports wellness, nutrition, and fitness programs. It also combines Web-based learning tools, along with concise tracking and results in the advanced fitness centers.
CEO of Athletes’ Performance Dan Burns noted in the press release, “When businesses make an investment in the health and well-being of their employees, they’re looking to achieve clinical and measurable results.” He noted that his company is founded on “a data driven, outcomes oriented foundation which” which will allow Take Care Health Systems to further expand and integrate a wellness and fitness platform through its “industry-leading onsite pharmacy and health services.”
Walgreens group vice president Peter Hotz explained, “Walgreens and Take Care Health Systems have a track record of bringing cutting edge pharmacy, and health and wellness solutions to employers.” This partnership is geared to benefit employers taking advantage of the “expertise and methodology of one of the world’s foremost fitness, nutrition and performance providers,” along with generating a healthy and high-performance workforce.
According to a 2011 report by Towers Watson and the National Business Group on Health, employers are citing onsite health services and pharmacies as a growing priority. The Take Care Health Systems and Performance Core partnership is intended to move Walgreens and its subsidiary into the forefront of providing employers assistance in reaching their health related goals and needs.
Walgreens boasts of sales for 2010 topping $67 billion, and it currently has 7,714 facilities throughout the nation, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. In addition to this, Walgreens serves almost 6 million customers on a daily basis with its multifunctional and multichannel facilities that offer consumer trusted and low-cost pharmacies, along with wellness advice and services, in addition to goods and other services across the U.S.
